Proyectos principales / Main projects

Modality in the documentary papyri

Este proyecto es la primera parte de un estudio diacrónico de los diversos recursos y estrategias para expresar el modo y la modalidad ("modalidad extendida") en griego antiguo en los registros de la lengua que pueden estudiarse en las cartas privadas de los papiros griegos fechados entre los siglos III a.C. y VIII d.C.

Próximamente empezaremos a colocar aquí materiales y resultados.

Greek Lexica

«Greek Lexica» is a repository of dictionaries for contemporary readers of Ancient Greek literature. The idea is that your reading of a text will be a much better experience the least time you need to look up for the words on the dictionary. And yet, you need to use the dictionary! Currently this is only a test. In time, it will develop into a place where students and readers will be able to download (and upload, too) lexica tailored for their readings of the Greek classics. Lexica come in two flavours: extended and short (see description below), and each flavour has two versions, pdf or epub.

Callimachus

Callimachus is a regest of the Greek Papyri and ostraka hosted at Papyri.info. In other words, Callimachus provides a description of the formal content of such papyri, covering a good part of all published Greek papyri. Callimachus provides three kinds of data about the papyri (both literary and non literary):

1. Several countable features of the text (as it was encoded by the Papyri.info project partners.) For instance, how many words, letters, gaps, letters per line, scribal hands, glyphs, etc., can be found inside every document. Callimachus provides also some basic statistics (like the average/ median number of letters per line in a papyrus).

2. An automated calculation of the state of the text of the papyrus: the Callimachus number. In other words, how much (and how well) the original text of the papyrus can be read in the edition used by Papyri.info.

3. Data about the papyrus (or ostrakon) itself, as provided by the HGV.

A simple list of Ancient Greek Personal names. Last time we counted, it contained 76,843 different personal names (or variants thereof) coming from two main sources: The «Lexicon of Greek Personal Names», and the «Trismegistos» repository of papyrological & epigraphic resources.

The list is intended as a tool for (mainly) linguistic projects.
